wallpaper chibi inquiry
for my wallpaper commissions, i list the options of chibi and 1 person as the same price of my 2 person option. when deciding my prices for wallpapers, i realized there’s a small loophole if i were to give a 50% off discount.
if someone wanted to get a wallpaper with finished full body chibis (5 chibi drawings included), the price would come out to $62. this is a problem because my normal comms make it so one finished fullbody chibi is $32. because a wallpaper comes with 5 drawings, they’re getting 5 drawings for $62 when my normal comms would make it $160.
for fair pricing and to not confuse myself and the customer, i eliminated the discount all together.
why do you charge for changing complex things in a commission?
I try my best to make the commission process seamless by sending a sketch to address any corrections. however, i’ve had incidents where commissioners ask for big changes with a drawing that’s in the finished stage. this can be difficult because I merge all layers into one, and the only way I could fix it would be to redraw the entire area they want fixed or use a lot of overlays and layers on top, which can bring the quality down.
with how challenging it can be at times and how often it can happen, i have decided to charge extra for these bigger changes. other artists have horror stories with customers going back and forth and it can seem endless, so I want to try my best to avoid that as well.
